HAPPENINGS:

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM FORM:

China Spring ISD is asking every family to complete the National School Lunch Program Form for the 2026-27 school year. Every response matters. The information helps us have a clearer picture of our school community and make sure we have the resources and programs to support all students. Whether or not your family qualifies for meal benefits, completing the form helps strengthen our district and the services we can provide to students. Your information is kept private. China Spring ISD does not have access to the information you provide on the form. Families only need to complete one application for all students in the household: Complete the National School Lunch Program Form.

GT INFORMATIONAL PARENT MEETING:

Parents interested in learning more about the CSISD Gifted and Talented (GT) program are invited to join us on Wednesday, September 30th from 5:30-6:30pm at the Elementary School GT room (103). COUNSELOR CORNER:

The start of a new school year is the perfect time to establish routines that help students feel confident, organized, and ready to learn. Here are a few simple ways you can support your child at home:

  • Ease into an earlier bedtime so your child is well-rested and ready for the school day.

  • Keep a family calendar in a visible place with important school events, sports, concerts, and activities.

  • Build strong organizational habits by checking your child's take-home folder each evening and cleaning out their backpack regularly.

  • Help your future selves! Pack lunches the night before, lay out clothes for the next day, and encourage your child to complete a little homework each night to avoid last-minute stress and procrastination.

Small, consistent routines can make a big difference in helping students start the school year feeling prepared, responsible, and successful!

NURSE UPDATE:

It's time to think about the flu. Although we see an increase in flu cases starting in October, you need to plan ahead. The flu shot is the 1st line of defense and is easily accessible . . . HEB, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

As well, healthy habits can help decrease your odds of infection:

  1. Wash hands often

  2. Avoid touching your face

  3. Keep your distance from those who are ill

  4. Clean surfaces that are frequently touched - door knobs, light switches, etc.

  5. Practice healthy habits - get enough sleep, eat healthy meals, drink plenty of water and stay active

  • 90% Law ~  The state of Texas requires students to be present 90% of the school year in order to receive credit for their current grade level.

  • Daily attendance ~ Attendance is taken every day at 9:30AM.  Your student must be on campus at this time to be counted present for the day.

  • When absent ~ Only 4 days total per semester can be excused by a PARENT NOTE (parent-signed excuse).  For all absences exceeding 4, a doctor's note or other formal documentation is required.

    • All excuse notes must be turned in to the front office within 3 school days of the student’s absence.

  • Attendance tracking looks at whole and partial day absences. Partial day absences include arriving at school late or leaving early without a medical excuse or one of the four parent notes for the semester.

Students should be able to participate in all regular school activities without risk of exposing any part of the buttocks or undergarments. Shorts may not be rolled up at the waistline. When wearing shorts, the shorts must be visible.

Students are expected to be in dress code according the district policy. Students will be given the opportunity to rectify their dress if they are out of code. Students who do not rectify will be sent to ISS until their dress is back in code. To view the dress code policy, please CLICK HERE.

FOOD DELIVERY:

Our campus does not accept meal delivery services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Lunch deliveries can only be made by a parent or family member. A parent may leave a message or a package, such as a forgotten lunch, for the student to pick up from the front office during a passing period or lunch.

All deliveries must come through the front office. Gifts, flowers, balloons, etc will remain in the office until the end of the day. We will notify the student that they have received an item, and it is their responsibility to pick up the item at the end of the day. As a courtesy, the school asks to be notified if a parent is sending a delivery to their child.

A forgotten lunch, water bottle, or other instructional item will be set out for students to pick up during passing periods.

CSI PHONE POLICY :

  • HB 1481 prohibits the use of a personal communication device during the school day.

  • ALL personal devices must remain turned off during the school day (from arrival - dismissal) and kept in the student’s backpack.

    • Items include: cell phones, smart watches, personal computers, personal iPads

    • If a student uses their personal device without authorization during the school day, the device will be confiscated.

    • Consequences will be enforced if a student is caught using a personal device OR is caught with it NOT in their backpack.

TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS:

  • Early dismissal ~ If you wish to pick your student up early from school, you must do so before 3:40PM.  A photo ID will be required to check your student out.

  • Transportation Change ~ If there is a change to your child’s normal mode of transportation in the afternoon, you must notify the front office by 3:15PM to ensure they get dismissed as requested.
